Takeshi Hongo is Kamen Rider Ichigou, the original Kamen Rider, from the 1971 television series Kamen Rider. A brilliant biochemist with an IQ of over 180, Hongo was kidnapped and surgically altered by Shocker, a nefarious organization bent on world domination. They intended to turn him into a cyborg soldier, but before the final brainwashing, Professor Midorikawa, a Shocker scientist with a change of heart, rescued him.
Midorikawa was killed protecting Hongo, but his actions spurred Hongo to use his enhanced abilities, including superhuman strength and jumping power, to fight against Shocker's evil plans. Using his specially designed motorcycle, the Cyclone, Hongo transformed into Kamen Rider Ichigou, a grasshopper-themed cyborg vigilante. He dedicated his life to protecting humanity from Shocker and their monstrous creations.
Throughout the series, Hongo is portrayed as a stoic and determined hero, burdened by the knowledge of Shocker's capabilities and driven by a deep sense of responsibility. He ultimately served as the template for future Kamen Riders and remains an iconic figure in Japanese popular culture.
